ARAB ORGANISATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE UK (AOHR UK)
39th Session of the Human Rights Council
Side Event
The United Nations Group of Eminent Experts on Yemen has just released its report that identifies the scale of the international crimes committed by all parties in the conflict in Yemen. They called for the alleged perpetrators to be investigated and prosecuted. In addition to highlighting the airstrikes and attacks by the Saudi and United Arab Emirates (UAE) led coalition, the naval and air blockade imposed by these countries on humanitarian aid has been criticised. Arbitrary widespread detentions of civilians, including journalists and human rights defenders, and ill treatment and torture have also been confirmed. A panel of prominent experts and commentators will discuss the current situation in Yemen and how to end impunity in this forgotten conflict.
