The Israeli occupation continues to practice its displacement and Judaization policy in Palestine, ignoring the international condemnations that have been of no use in stopping the Israeli demolitions on an almost daily basis.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished on Monday three Palestinian-owned homes in the West Bank for being allegedly built without permit.
The demolition operations took place in the Bethlehem and Jenin governorates.
An IOF force stormed Jalameh town near Jenin and began demolishing two homes built on private Palestinian land.
The Israeli forces claimed that “the two homes were built without a permit in an area (C).”
Under the same pretext, the Israeli forces demolished a 150-square-meter house in the Bir Ona neighborhood in Beit Jala near Bethlehem, without allowing residents to remove their belongings.
The occupation forces prohibit construction in Area C of the West Bank without obtaining an Israeli permit, which is almost impossible to obtain.
Over the past month, the Israeli authorities carried out 98 demolition operations against 135 Palestinian-owned facilities, including 62 inhabited homes, 14 uninhabited homes, and 12 agricultural facilities. 16 other facilities were also notified of demolition in the West Bank governorates.
Official Palestinian data shows that the Israeli authorities demolished 318 facilities in the West Bank during the first half of 2024, compared to 313 facilities demolished in 2023.
Since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation has escalated its demolition policy in the so-called area C, which constitutes about 60% of the West Bank.
The Israeli occupation’s practices of demolition, displacement, and settlement operations are notable because they clearly violate international law and the human right to housing, which is regarded as a fundamental right that includes the ability to live in a stable environment and to acquire a suitable place to live without facing discrimination or being forcibly displaced.
