The Israeli occupation army continues to escalate its arrest campaigns in the West Bank, coinciding with the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip since last October 7.
Since dawn on Sunday, the occupation forces launched an arrest campaign that included 15 Palestinians, including former prisoners, distributed across the provinces of Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus, Jenin, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem, accompanied by the implementation of widespread raids and abuse operations, brutal beatings, threats against the detainees and their families, in addition to sabotage and destruction operations in citizens’ homes.
The toll of Palestinian detainees since last October 7 has risen to about 6170 detainees. This toll includes those who were arrested from their homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender under pressure, and those who were held as hostages.
The pace of raids and arrests witnessed by the occupied West Bank cities has increased, coinciding with the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression for 46 days on the Gaza Strip, which left tens of thousands of dead and wounded.
These arbitrary arrests represent a flagrant violation of individuals’ basic rights, including the right to freedom and personal security, the right not to be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. It also violates the right to personal freedom and the right to a fair trial, as detainees are held without legal evidence and proper judicial warrants.
These violations call for the international community and human rights organizations to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities; to ensure respect for human rights, and to put an end to these
