More than 23 political detainees remain in the prisons of the Palestinian security services in the West Bank, in which they are subjected to torture, solitary confinement, medical negligence, among other violations.
The political detainee in the Palestinian Authority prisons in Ramallah, Amir Al-Khawaja, announced going on an open hunger strike for being arbitrarily arrested.
On August 24, 2022, Palestinian security forces arrested Al-Khawaja without a warrant or a reason.
Al-Khawaja was arrested many times before by the Israeli occupation authorities.
In addition to this, the mother of the two political detainees, Jihad and Saad Wahdan, is on a hunger strike for the 11th consecutive day, in solidarity with her two sons, who have been arbitrarily detained by the PA for more than 80 days in Jericho Central Prison.
Likewise, the mother of the political detainee, Ahmed Noah Harish, continues her hunger strike for the 16th consecutive day, in solidarity with her son, who has been detained by the PA for 89 consecutive days in Jericho Central Prison.
It is noteworthy that MPs of the European Union had recently criticised the PA in the West Bank for the arresting dozens of political activists by its security services, which have been trained and equipped by the European police.
