The United Nations has once again warned that the strict blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation on Jabalia and northern Gaza poses a threat to life.
The Coordinator of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territory, Mahmud Hadi, stated in a press release that Al-Awda and Al-Indonesian hospitals have been directly targeted amid intense hostilities, noting that they are among the three remaining hospitals in northern Gaza.
Hadi mentioned that these attacks have worsened the alarming humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, emphasizing that Israeli forces have intensified pressure on these hospitals to evacuate them over the past two weeks, “but the patients had nowhere else to go.”
The UN official confirmed that Al-Adwan Hospital, which treats two-thirds of the patients, is suffering from severe shortages of beds, medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, stating that “yesterday, the urgent request made by the United Nations to access northern Gaza to assist in rescuing dozens of trapped wounded individuals under the rubble by Israeli forces was not met.”
On her part, the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Acting Emergency Relief Coordinator, Joyce Msuya, stated that the news from northern Gaza is horrifying, with Palestinians still enduring indescribable horrors under the siege imposed by Israeli occupation forces.
Msuya, in a statement released this evening, Saturday, said, “People in Jabalia are trapped under the rubble, rescuers are prevented from reaching them, and tens of thousands of Palestinians are facing forced displacement amidst the depletion of essential supplies.”
She pointed out that “hospitals crowded with patients have come under attack,” calling for “an end to these atrocities, in accordance with international humanitarian law, and the protection of civilians, the wounded, patients, healthcare workers, and healthcare facilities.”
She stressed the “need to respect international humanitarian law, and Israel must comply with the interim orders issued by the International Court of Justice.”
For the 16th consecutive day, the Israeli occupation army continues its genocidal and starving war in northern Gaza, especially in Jabalia town and its camp, where it imposes a suffocating siege and starvation, under continuous bloody shelling and destruction of homes over the heads of its inhabitants.
Since October 7th, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries, massive humanitarian crises, and causing a significant health and environmental catastrophe due to the destruction of vital facilities and the overflow of sewage in wide areas.
