Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) stated that the Russian attacks against civilians in the Syrian countryside continued for the tenth day in a row, while the international community continues to fail to take any serious action to save the lives of the Syrians.
AOHR UK added that the forces of the Syrian and Russian regimes are carrying out air and ground strikes against the Syrian countryside in Idlib and Hama since Sunday 21 July. These attacks resulted in the killing of more than 121 people and wounding dozens, in addition to the burning and destruction of houses, private facilities.
AOHR UK further said that the air and land strikes targeted both the rural areas of Hama and Idlib; Urm al-Joz village in Jabal Al-Zawiyeh, Kafr Rumah and Kafr Nabel were bombarded by helicopter using cluster bombs. Khan Shaykhoun city as well as Ariha, Deir Sennel and Altmtana, and in the Hama rural areas; Murak city, and villages of Sorman and Lahaya and Hweij, Lataminah were all bombarded.
In a repeatedly criminal act, Russian and Syrian forces targeted two popular markets in Idlib countryside, killing at least 50 people. Around 39 people were killed in Maarat al-Nu’man market, while 11 people were killed in a market in the city of Sarakib.
AOHR UK pointed out that the targeted area is within the de-escalation zone, stressing out that the Syrian and Russian forces have been shelling these areas since February, which resulted in the killing of about 1067, including at least 300 children, and the displacement of more than 654717 Syrians.
AOHR UK stressed that the weak stances of the Arab and Islamic countries and the silence of the international community regarding the horrendous crimes of the Syrian and Russian regimes have in fact encouraged them to further kill and displace more civilians despite the fact that these regimes are committing crimes against humanity.
AOHR UK called on the international community and decision-makers in the world to take serious steps towards ending the killing of civilians in Syria. It also called to bring perpetrators of crimes against humanity against the Syrian people to a special tribunal and the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions to stop armed conflict in Syria
