The Tunisian security services launched a campaign of arrests which included political activists Abdelhamid Jelassi, Khayyam Al-Turki, and Kamal Al-Latif.
Former MP Monia Ibrahim confirmed the arrest of her husband, the political activist and head of the New Horizons Forum, Abdelhamid Al-Jelassi. She stated that a security force stormed and searched their house, and took Al-Jalassi to an unknown destination.
The Tunisian lawyer Nizar Ayed said that businessman Kamal Al-Latif, 68, was arrested from his home in the northern suburbs of Tunis.
Tunisian lawyer Abdelaziz Al- Sayd stated that the Tunisian security services arrested political activist Khayam Al-Turki, without providing any reasons for this arrest.
Al-Sayd said, “At around 6:00 am, Khayam Al-Turki was arrested by security agents, after they raided and searched his place of residence,” adding, “I am still trying to find out where he was taken.”
Recently, the Tunisian regime launched an arrests campaign against many opponents of President Kais Saied.
Since last July 25, Tunisia has been going through political crisis, after President Kais Saied issued exceptional decisions that undermine democracy.
