The United Nations (UN) warned on Thursday that there is no safe place in Gaza due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
For people who can’t evacuate – because they have nowhere to go or are unable to move – advance warnings make no difference, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Lynn Hastings, said.
When the evacuation routes are bombed, when people north as well as south are caught up in hostilities, when the essentials for survival are lacking, and when there are no assurances for return, people are left with nothing but impossible choices. Nowhere is safe in Gaza, she added.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip has risen to more than 6,500 victims and more than 17,000 injured since October 7.
Over the past 20 days, the Israeli occupation has tightened its unfair siege, which has been imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007, deepening the already-deteriorated human condition.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian and human rights law as it exposes civilians’ lives to extreme danger, which requires an immediate international intervention.
