Arab Organisation for Human Rights in UK (AOHR UK) has called for an urgent international conference to provide emergency relief and rebuild Gaza, which is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. AOHR UK also stressed that similar conferences have been convened for countries that suffered far less destruction than Gaza.
AOHR UK stated that for the past 15 months, Gaza has been subjected to relentless destruction as part of an ongoing genocide, rendering it uninhabitable. Urgent action is required to implement a comprehensive international plan that addresses immediate humanitarian needs—ensuring access to shelter, food, medicine, and fuel—while also laying the foundation for long-term reconstruction.
AOHR UK emphasised that the efforts of UN agencies and humanitarian organisations are inadequate in meeting the overwhelming needs of Gaza’s population. The scale of this unprecedented disaster demands a unified and intensified response, with substantial financial resources allocated through a central reconstruction fund. Such measures can only be effectively realised through an international conference where states commit to the necessary steps for relief and rebuilding.
AOHR UK expressed deep concern that, despite the severity of the crisis, no government or international body has yet called for such a conference. The dire conditions in Gaza have become even more evident since the ceasefire took effect, yet the international response remains passive—just as it was throughout the genocide.
AOHR UK warned that the fragility of the ceasefire, Netanyahu’s explicit threats to resume the war, and Trump’s proposed displacement plan necessitate urgent international intervention. The Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the European Union must work alongside the United Nations to immediately convene a conference that ensures the devastation in Gaza is not exploited as a pretext for forced displacement. Instead, the priority must be rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure, restoring essential services, and delivering immediate humanitarian assistance.
AOHR UK reiterated the international community’s collective responsibility to protect the Palestinian people across all occupied territories. It urged global powers to secure the ceasefire and reject Trump’s displacement plan, stressing that Gaza and the West Bank must not be left at the mercy of Netanyahu and Trump’s aggressive policies, which threaten to ignite a wider regional war and destabilise international peace and security.
AOHR UK condemned the international community’s failure to learn from its silence over the past 15 months of genocide in Gaza. It also criticised the lack of action in response to ongoing crimes committed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, warning that these escalating violations risk leading to yet another genocide. AOHR UK also highlighted the widespread killings, arbitrary arrests, settlement expansion, home demolitions, road destruction, dismantling of water and sewage networks, and the systematic fragmentation of Palestinian towns and villages through military checkpoints and barriers, rendering life unbearable for residents.
AOHR UK stressed that the international community is running out of time to halt Netanyahu’s plans across the occupied Palestinian territories and prevent the outbreak of a broader regional conflict. It is imperative to take decisive action and implement concrete measures to protect the Palestinian people and uphold their fundamental rights to freedom, security, and dignity, like all other nations of the world.
