The UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, called for an investigation into Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In an interview with the BBC, Albanese said: “The investigation is necessary to hold Israel accountable and put an end to its impunity.”
According to the BBC, Albanese’s made her comments as six European countries issued a joint statement condemning the violence and calling on Israel to stop illegal settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
The foreign ministers of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland expressed concern over the ongoing violence in the occupied Palestinian territories.
They condemned what they described as “indiscriminate” Israeli Jewish settlers’ violence against Palestinian civilians, demanding urgent action against the perpetrators.
Since the start of the year, 67 Palestinians were killed in attacks carried out by Israeli forces and settlers.
Over the past weeks, Israeli settlers’ attacks have been notably increased under total protection from the occupation army.
