In light of the ongoing escalation in political repression, the increasing marginalisation of the judiciary, and the deepening economic and social crises in Tunisia, Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) is organising a webinar entitled:
“Tunisia: Political Detention, Judicial Erosion, and Socio-Economic Breakdown”
This webinar aims to shed light on the key challenges facing the country, and the urgent need for accountability, reform, and respect for human rights.
The discussion will focus on the following themes:
- The intensification of arbitrary political detention and the use of the security apparatus to silence dissent
- The erosion of judicial independence and the use of courts to legitimise repression
- The collapse of economic and social conditions and their impact on the population’s basic rights
- The role of international actors and human rights mechanisms in addressing these violations
