Over the past months, the Palestinian Authority has been exerting pressure on trade union work, especially in the health and education sectors as it rejects the existence of a democratically elected formation that expresses the interests and opinions of workers with transparency.
A few days ago, the security services summoned many teachers and placed barriers on the roads leading to Ramallah, ahead of a demonstration for teachers in front of the Palestinian Council of Ministers. Such an act is a flagrant attack on trade union work, freedom of peaceful assembly, and the right to liberty and expression.
The bodies that currently manage the unions are affiliated with the authority and do not reflect the interests of the members of the union. They have proven to be only applying the directives of PA, despite violating the law and the rights of the union members.
In this regard, Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK invites you to join a webinar to highlight the threats facing freedom of trade union work in Palestine and to discuss possible ways to stop the repression and deprivation of civil rights of trade union members.
