In light of the recent harrowing developments in the Gaza Strip, particularly the escalating famine and the rising number of deaths due to starvation, Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) is organising a webinar aimed at highlighting the critical humanitarian situation in Gaza. The situation is dire, with the United Nations issuing warnings about the worsening conditions, which are being exacerbated by the ongoing Israeli attacks and policies that constitute a form of genocide.
The Israeli siege on Gaza has created severe restrictions on food, medical supplies, and other essential goods, leading to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. These actions have not only crippled the economy but have also systematically targeted the basic means of survival for the Palestinian population in Gaza.
The webinar will focus on the following topics:
1. Current Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza
– Examination of the severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
– Discussion of the impact on the civilian population, particularly children and the elderly.
2. Rising Death Toll from Starvation
– Analysis of recent data on deaths caused by malnutrition and lack of medical care.
– Testimonies from healthcare workers and humanitarian organizations on the ground.
3. UN Warnings and International Response
– Overview of the United Nations’ warnings about the escalating crisis.
– Assessment of the international community’s response and the effectiveness of aid efforts.
4. Israeli Authorities’ Role in the Genocide
– Detailed examination of the Israeli attacks and siege policies that contribute to the genocide.
– Legal and human rights perspectives on the actions of the Israeli authorities.
5. Possible Solutions and Humanitarian Efforts
– Exploration of potential solutions to alleviate the crisis.
– Highlighting ongoing and needed humanitarian efforts to support the people of Gaza.
6. Impact of the Siege on Everyday Life in Gaza
– Personal stories and accounts from Gaza residents.
– Examination of how the siege affects daily activities, mental health, and community resilience.
The webinar aims to bring together experts, activists, and affected individuals to shed light on these critical issues and mobilize international action to address the humanitarian catastrophe and acts of genocide in Gaza.
