The UAE’s prisons, hold dozens of political prisoners and human rights activists for campaigning for reform in the Gulf country.
Several political prisoners, including women, are still detained in UAE jails after receiving high prison sentences over their human rights activism. Prominent human rights defenders Ahmed Mansoor, Dr Mohamed al-Roken, and Dr Nasser bin Gaith are among dozens held amid very difficult detention conditions.
19 political prisoners are still also held beyond their release dates despite completing their prison terms.
