The Israeli occupation authorities hold about 4450 Palestinian prisoners, including 32 female prisoners, 161 children, and 530 administrative detainees, according to prisoners’ rights NGOs.
On the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, on April 17, reports showed that arrests of Palestinians increased during March 2022, and with the beginning of April, which coincides with the beginning of the holly month of Ramadan.
The most arrests took place on Friday, during the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, where more than 450, including children, were arrested.
Currently, the number of sick prisoners is over 600, including 200 chronic cases, 22 of whom have cancer and tumours of varying degrees.
The number of the dead prisoners is 227, as well as hundreds of released prisoners who died as a result of diseases they had in prison. The number of deaths due to medical negligence is 72, while the Israeli authorities continue to hold the bodies of 8 prisoners who died in prisons.
Data showed that the number of prisoners serving life sentences is over 549.
Furthermore, 8 deputies are still detained in Israeli prisons, in addition to 11 journalists.
