On Sunday, the Israeli occupation court issued a five-year prison sentence against six Palestinian prisoners for digging a tunnel under the Gilboa prison, in addition to a fine of 1500 dollars for each of them.
Those sentenced are Mahmoud and Mohamed Al -Ardah, Ayham Kamamji, Yaqoub Al -Qadri, Monadel Nefiat, and Zakaria Al -Zubaidi.
Moreover, the court also issued a stay of execution of eight -month prison sentence for the five detainees.
On September 6, 2021, the six prisoners managed to escape from the Israeli Gilboa prison, in what was known in Palestinian as the “Great Escape”, via digging a tunnel from their cell, however they got rearrested in two weeks.
Following their rearrest, the Israeli Occupation Forces tortured them severely leading to their injury in different parts of their body, followed by deliberate medical negligence, and stripping them off from their clothes during interrogations.
The occupation prison authorities also held them in tiny solitary cells and monitored them with CCTV cameras as well as guards at all times. They were also deprived of food, sleeping, resting and praying, and subjected to interrogations that lasted for very long hours.
