The Israeli occupation authorities committed 46 media violations across the Palestinian territories last January.
According to the Journalists’ Support Committee’s report, the violations varied between “arrest, extortion and direct and direct field assault of media personnel among other forms of harassment,” where the IOF arrested four journalists last month.
The committee added that “17 cases of assault and injury against journalists during their coverage of the demolition of Palestinian homes in the occupied East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood and rallies in the West Bank, in addition to using rubber bullets and gas bombs against Palestinian journalists.”
10 journalists were prevented from covering the incidents, in addition to preventing journalists from covering 18 cases of violations of the IOF.
The report added that the IOF raided, searched and damaged the contents of a house of one of the journalists and threatened two other journalists.
Furthermore, the management of social media websites restricted more than four accounts of journalists under the pretext of violating the publication policy.
On January 22, the IOF arrested and detained 17 Palestinian journalists, according to media groups.
