Channel 12 published a video documenting the sexual assault of Israeli soldiers on a Palestinian prisoner in the Sde Teiman camp in the Negev desert.
The prison documentation, which did not specify the date or how it reached the channel, shows a number of Israeli soldiers choosing a prisoner from among more than 30 prisoners who were lying on the ground in the prison yard with their eyes blindfolded. The soldiers are then documented taking the Palestinian prisoner to a corner in the yard and using shields to hide what they did.
The Israeli channel said: “It is clear that they (the soldiers) were aware of the security cameras and were trying to hide their actions with shields.”
It added: “The video includes documentation of the offense attributed to the reserve soldiers: the act of sodomy under these circumstances.”
It continued: “Hours later, the prisoner was transferred to the hospital bleeding, and his injury was described as complex, and the medical decision was unambiguous: the injury occurred due to the insertion of an object.”
For its part, the United Nations called for “ensuring accountability” regarding the camera recording of scenes of sexual assault on a Palestinian prisoner by Israeli soldiers in the Sde Teiman detention center.
This was stated by the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq, during a press conference in New York in response to a question regarding the inhumane practices to which Palestinians are subjected in the occupation prisons.
The UN official said: “We have published special reports ourselves about our concerns regarding the situation of Palestinian detainees.”
He continued: “We believe that all these allegations related to the violation of basic human rights standards must be investigated comprehensively and accountability must be ensured.”
On July 29, a great uproar rose after members of the occupation military prosecution arrived at the Sde Teiman camp to investigate 9 soldiers who sexually assaulted a Palestinian prisoner, and 5 of them were later released without being indicted.
Since the outbreak of the war of extermination waged by the Israeli occupation on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israeli, Palestinian and international human rights organisations have spoken about the deterioration of conditions in the occupation prisons, especially in “Sde Teiman”.
Since the beginning of its ground operation in Gaza on October 27, the IOF has arrested thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women, children, health workers and civil defense personnel.
