For the 62nd consecutive day, the Israeli occupation’s massive carnage continues to claim more lives in the Gaza Strip as its army persists in bombing homes and buildings and targeting civilians.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) warned that the situation in Gaza is “getting worse each minute.”.
“Another wave of displacement is underway in Gaza,” UNRWA said in a brief statement on X, describing the enclave as “one of the most dangerous places in the world.”
UNRWA earlier declared that almost 1.9 million people, or over 80% of the population, have been displaced across the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7.
As of December 2, approximately 1.2 million displaced people were taking shelter in 156 UNRWA-run facilities across the Gaza Strip, including the northern region.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry declared that a total of 800,000 Palestinians in the northern part of the Gaza Strip are currently without health coverage.
Spokesman for the ministry Ashraf al-Qudra warned against what he termed “acts of genocide committed by Israel in the northern Gaza Strip.”
The Israeli occupation deliberately aims to undermine health care infrastructure in northern Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra said.
The capacity of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City has been exceeded due to the large number of wounded people transferred to the facility, Al-Qudra added, appealing for international support and protection against Israel’s intensified bombardment.
The Health Ministry earlier said that more than 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza are now completely without medical services as the genocide against the Palestinian people grinds on.
The Israeli army resumed bombing the Gaza Strip last Friday after declaring an end to a week-long humanitarian truce.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian and human rights law as it exposes civilians’ lives to extreme danger, which requires immediate international intervention.
The international community must force the Israeli occupation forces to abide by international human rights and humanitarian laws, mainly protecting the rights and lives of civilians, prohibiting their targeting and preserving their safety, and holding the Israeli leaders accountable for committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip.
