The Israeli occupation authorities assaulted the Palestinian female prisoners in Damon Prison, as they beat them, sprayed them with pepper gas and tear gas. They also let police dogs attack them.
Furthermore, the prison authorities moved the representative of the female prisoners, Yasmine Shaaban, to solitary confinement after assaulting her.
The Israeli Ofer prison administration closed all sections of the entire prison. In response, prisoners in the men’s section refused to have their breakfast meals and demanded to call the female prisoners to check on them.
Yesterday, the occupation forces stormed the women’s section, carried out thorough searches of their cells, confiscated electronic devices from the section, and closed the section for a week.
The torture and abuse against female prisoners at the hands of Israeli authorities includes detaining them inside inhuman cells and in very poor conditions that threaten their lives, while the Israeli authorities claim to not have enough budget to reform the life-threatening conditions of the female prison.
Female prisoners have reported suffering from high humidity in their cells during winter, in addition to having to use bed covers to close the bathrooms.
They also complained of the installation of cameras in Al-Fura Square, which violates their privacy, despite the multiple protests they held.
The number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons is about four thousand and 700, including 34 female prisoners.
